Is Polartec Delta actually cooler than a regular moisture-wicking jersey?
Yes. Standard wicking fabrics focus on moving moisture away and drying fast, which can actually short-circuit the body's natural cooling mechanism. Delta takes a different approach: it disperses sweat across the fabric surface to maximize evaporative cooling while reducing the wet, clammy feeling of saturated fabric. The difference is most noticeable in sustained heat and humidity.
What is Polartec Delta made of?
Delta is a dual-yarn fabric combining Tencel™ lyocell (a cellulose-based hydrophilic fiber) with polyester (a hydrophobic synthetic fiber). The lyocell draws moisture away from the skin. The polyester spreads it for rapid evaporation without absorbing it.
What temperatures is the Habanero designed for?
The Habanero is built for hot-weather riding, think 70°F and up, whether that's a San Francisco September or an Austin August. It also works well as a layering piece in milder conditions when you're riding at high intensity.
Does the Habanero stick to your skin when you sweat?
No. One of Delta's key design features is reduced wet-cling. The elevated knit structure lifts the fabric off the skin, creating air channels even when you're sweating heavily. You get cooling without the sticky, plastered-on feeling.
Does Polartec Delta reduce odor?
Yes. The Tencel lyocell fibers in Delta have natural antimicrobial properties that help manage odor from sweat buildup. It won't replace washing, but it extends the fresh window between rides.
How should I wash a Polartec Delta jersey?
Cold water, mild detergent, no fabric softener. Lay flat to dry. Skip the dryer, as heat can degrade the fabric's performance over time.
What does "deadstock" mean?
Deadstock is fabric that was overproduced, abandoned, or never made it to the cutting table. Instead of letting it sit in a warehouse (or worse), we turn it into something new. The catch? We only get one shot. One opportunity. Same Polartec Delta performance, lower environmental impact.
What is the Special Projects collection?
One of the most sustainable things we can do is use what already exists. Special Projects is our collection of limited-run pieces made from premium deadstock fabrics, cut and sewn in California. Some of our most beloved pieces were born this way. When they're gone, they're gone.
How Polartec Delta Works
Most wicking fabrics dry sweat so fast that your body never benefits from it. Delta does the opposite: it disperses moisture across the jersey to maximize evaporative cooling.Two unique yarns make it happen. Tencel™ lyocell (hydrophilic) pulls sweat away from your skin. Polyester (hydrophobic) spreads it across the surface where airflow accelerates evaporation. The technical knit's texturing optimizes airflow, so your body's cooling system works harder for you.
