Merino Cap - Black

18 reviews
  • Cozy and Comfy Cap for the cooler times.

Our merino cap should be a staple in every cyclist’s wardrobe where the winters get cold. Roadies, gravel junkies, and mtb'ers can all revel in its lightweight, comfort, and versatility.

It made sense to team up with our friends at Giro (65 miles south door-to-door) to put together an Ornot iteration of this classic cap. It's thin enough to fit under a helmet, has updated construction that reduces bunching and a shortened brim for improved upper peripheral vision while still maintaining its ability to block sun, rain, sleet, hail, etc. Bonus ear flaps for added warmth.

  • One size fits most heads
  • + Winter weight Australian Merino wool blend.
    + X-Static® liner
    + Reinforced brim
    + BlueSign Approved fabric
+ Ear flaps fold up or down
+ Made in collaboration with Giro in Vietnam

This bald head gets cold

About 3 years ago I lost the natural insulation that many people have on top of their head. While I still miss my hair some days, this cap makes me miss it less on the cold days in the saddle. Now, I can chose to have a warm head, ornot.

Versatile and Packable

Brim is smaller than your average cap and material softer which makes it way more packable than your standard hat. Worthwhile part of your kit for all but the summer months. Hybrid wool/synthetic materials seem to strike the balance between keeping you warm and cool. Fold down ear flaps are a bonus when temps drop.

It was cold; my head was warm

Got an email asking for a review of this cap immediately after wearing it in a sub-40* ride in the rain. My hands were so numb I couldn’t shift, but my head and ears felt great. It’s not waterproof FYI. I’ve also worn this cap in dry, frigid weather: it’s great. You CAN flip up the ear covers too once the sun comes up and starts thawing you out. Love it. Wish I’d bought it years ago.

Soft, breathable, warm.

Really soft. Warm enough for freezing rides, but not so much that you overheat during hard efforts.
